A classic Bentwood style bistro dining chair that works well across a variety of dining room styles. This chair replicates the original No.14 Chair design which uses the furniture making method developed by Michael Thonet in 1859. The technique allows the wood to be bent by heating beechwood slats at high temperature with steam and pressing them into moulds - the chair was then produced in large volumes for the cafe environment creating an iconic look that is now replicated in both contemporary and vintage styling of homes and cafes.
The original No.14 Bentwood chair was manufactured with a woven seat pad to allow for spilt drinks in the cafe environment to drain off the chair - this version of the Bentwood chair has a solid timber seat pad for extra strength and durability.
